MOORESVILLE, N.C. (January 16, 2025) – TRICON Garage evealed today its plans to debut in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) at the 67th Daytona 500, with 2017 Cup champion Martin Truex Jr. driving the No. 56 Toyota Camry XSE. The Mayetta, New Jersey native will take the wheel.
TRICON will receive technical assistance from Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), and Cole Pearn will reunite with Truex Jr. as a crew chief, returning to the NCS for the first time since 2019. The pair achieved 24 Cup wins and a championship over five seasons and aim to qualify for their sixth Daytona 500.
Bass Pro Shops will continue their long-term partnership with Truex Jr., serving as the main sponsor for the No. 56 in the “Great American Race.” The leading outdoor and conservation company, established by Johnny Morris, has partnered with the 44-year-old driver since 2004.
“It’s going to be really exciting to work with Cole and have the number 56 again,” said Truex Jr. “I’m grateful to everyone at Bass Pro Shops, TRICON, and Toyota for making this happen so we can have some fun, and I can’t think of a better time to win for Johnny Morris.”
TRICON Garage and Toyota joined forces starting with the 2023 Truck Series season. Since then, they have achieved significant success with nine victories, 50 top-five finishes, and consecutive Championship 4 appearances. This consistent performance and success make this partnership a natural progression for TRICON as the organization continues to expand and plan for the future.
“This opportunity reflects the dedication of our entire team and our partners at Toyota. Having competed against Martin for many years, I can confidently say there’s no better competitor I’d want driving for our first Cup Series entry at the sport’s most prestigious race,” said David Gilliland, partner at TRICON Garage.
"As an open entry, we recognize the challenges ahead, but I am confident that Martin will lead us to success. I've had the privilege of starting from the pole at Daytona, and my next goal is to celebrate in victory lane."
