Whether in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Florida, Anthony Macri consistently triumphs wherever he competes.
Last month, the Dillsburg, PA native and his Macri Motorsports team headed to Barberville, FL's Volusia Speedway Park and dominated the event. They secured finishes of third and fourth, culminating in a $20,000 victory in the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals finale, earning the Big Gator.
This week, they returned to the “Sunshine State” 1/2 mile for the Bike Week Jamboree with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, and their choice proved successful.
On Monday at Volusia, Macri emerged victorious in a thrilling race. Carson Macedo initially took the lead from David Gravel, and the two battled for several laps. Gravel overtook Macedo multiple times, only for Macedo to reclaim the lead each time. Then Macri stealthily overtook both, seizing the lead on Lap 14.
Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year contender Ashton Torgerson advanced to second place late in the race and closed in on Macri, but time ran out as Macri crossed the finish line first, marking his second victory of the year at Volusia.
“Hats off to these guys, they gave me an incredible car,” Macri said. “I was able to maneuver. It feels surreal. We used to struggle here. There’s no reason to hide it. Being this competitive and running at the front with these guys is truly special. It makes standing up here even more rewarding.
“Joe (Mooney) and I discussed before the Feature to just pace ourselves with those guys and let them race and wear out their equipment. That’s what I did. I aimed to maintain my pace with them and run where they weren’t. Obviously, you can’t pass them by following them.”
Macri is the first driver to achieve two wins with The Greatest Show on Dirt in 2026. He now becomes the 13th driver in Series history to win multiple races at Volusia. Although they don’t plan to follow the tour full-time, it’s noteworthy that the Pennsylvania Posse star is just two points behind David Gravel for the lead after five races.
The runner-up position was claimed by an impressive Ashton Torgerson. The 19-year-old shows wisdom beyond his years, with three top-five finishes in five starts this year, highlighted by Monday’s performance.
David Gravel finished third, achieving his fourth consecutive podium finish.
Carson Macedo and Daryn Pittman rounded out the top five.
