Anderson, SC (February 24, 2026) - The racing scene witnessed a perfect synergy as Danny Bohn's blue and white number 25 seamlessly maneuvered past the blue-and-white striped walls at Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina, securing a victory in the Pace-O-Matic 99 with the SMART Modified Tour.
Bohn experienced some pressure prior to the event upon learning that car owner Mike Smith had, in 2016, led all 125 laps of a southern modified series event, culminating in a victory with driver John Smith at Anderson.
In his debut at the Palmetto State track, Bohn nearly matched that achievement by leading all but four laps of the 99-lap race, earning his first victory of the season and his fourth overall triumph with the SMART Mods.
“I was informed that this car led every lap and won the race here years ago, so I had to uphold my end of the deal," joked Bohn, who drives the Alpine Partners / Cutting Edge Stoneworks / BKA Properties vehicle. “This car is a joy to drive. We connected immediately last year. Every race, we have a car capable of winning, and as a driver, you can't ask for more than that."
“This is exciting for me,” Bohn added. “I always enjoy winning at new tracks. I had never seen this place until I arrived this morning. Winning here is quite remarkable.”
Jake Crum was the only other driver to lead laps in the Pace-O-Matic 99, leading a total of four. Crum finished fourth in his Mount Airy Toyota number-1 car. Both Crum and Bohn are the only two drivers to have led laps in the first two events of the season.
Two-time and defending series champion Luke Baldwin applied pressure on Bohn late in the race but ultimately secured the runner-up position. Baldwin rebounded from a DNF in the season opener the previous week.
“It's a bit disappointing, but we can't be too upset after recovering from last week and securing a podium finish,” said Baldwin, who drives for SS Racing. “I'm grateful for all the hard work from the team to get this car back together, install another engine, and make it as fast as it is.”
Baldwin claimed the Pace-O-Matic Pole Award with a track record in qualifying at AMS.
Burt Myers drove his Citrusafe Grill Cleaners number-one car to a third-place finish, marking a pair of top-10 finishes to start the season.
“We've been working diligently on forward drive, and now we have too much,” said Myers, a three-time series champion. “The car just wouldn't rotate, so I had to maneuver it aggressively, and after the pit stop, I wore out the right rear trying to make it turn. To put this in perspective, our recent performance hasn't been great, so this is a significant improvement for us. Obviously, we want to be where that number 25 is, but we now have something we can build on.”
