Austin Hill claimed victory in a thrilling three-wide photo finish at Talladega on Saturday.. He edged out Jeb Burton and his RCR teammate Jesse Love as the field was frozen with an electronic timestamp close to the checkered flag.
This victory marks Hill's ninth win on a super speedway, establishing the 30-year-old as the Xfinity Series’ all-time leader in wins on drafting-style tracks
The caution and checkered flags flew together when Love’s No. 2 Chevrolet collided with JR Motorsports rookie Connor Zilisch’s No. 88 Chevy just after the white flag, causing Zilisch to spin into the wall. This left Hill, Burton, and Love to contend for the trophy.
Love, the defending race winner who finished in third place, led for a race-high 50 of the 113 laps that day. However, he acknowledged that the final lap was a typical superspeedway sprint to the checkered flag.
Justin Allgaier the current Xfinity Series champion, secured fourth place, with Matt DiBenedetto following in fifth. The top 10 were Anthony Alfredo, Blaine Perkins, Harrison Burton, Sheldon Creed, and Daniel Dye. Zilisch, who led for nine laps, ended in 27th place.
