Austin Hill pulled off a stunning last lap pass off turn 4 to take Saturday night's NASCAR Xfinity series win at the Martinsville Speedway.
In a race, it seemed more like a demolition derby at times. It came down to a fierce battle for the win on the final lap of the race.
Stage 1
Connor ZILISCH and Carson Kvapil let the field green. Connor jumped out to our early lead in stage one.
The biggest part of racing at the front was between Hill and Kvapil for Second place.
Segment one was only slowed by one caution ball out on lap 7 when the 25 of Harrison Barton and the 17 and Cory Day got together in turns one and two.
The first segment was finished under caution, with Zilisch taking the stage win.
Stage 2
Conner Zilisch dominated stage two to take the win .
Stage 3
The Final stage of the race couldn’t have been more chaotic with the number of caution Flags that flew.
Taylor Gray harbors thoughts of revenge, for Sammy Smith after a earlier incident in the race.
The 14th caution for Matt DiBenedetto’s spin in Turn 2 sent the race to overtime.
Gray positioned himself behind Smith, the leader, and used his bumper to seize the top position from Smith, reciprocating the move from the earlier restart on Lap 249 of 256.
Gray, in pursuit of his first Xfinity Series victory, maintained the lead until Turn 3 of the last lap.
At that moment, Smith surged into the corner, causing Gray's to spin and crash into the outside wall.
Austin Hill then made his move by bumping Justin Allgaier, causing Allgaier to crash into Smith.
He dove to the bottom, navigated through the chaos, and took the lead to win the Xfinity race at Martinsville.
